My Thoughts

Fun Stitch A Longs

Aloha All,

It has been a little while since we last chatted.  In the meantime blog has taken on a new look and been re-done.  Take a look around and I hope you like the changes.

Today I have my Owl by Love you More to show.  But the most fun is Kimberly Smith’s Instagram Stitch A Long!

Kimberly designed Menagerie as a December Stitch a Long with actual videos to demonstrate different stitches.  The canvas has twelve lessons and there will be postings to Instagram and Facebook.  I will also post the videos here on blog for easy to accessability.  Kimberly did give me permission to do this for her canvas.

You will find Menagerie in blog posts and on my “Techniques” page.  Yes, there is now a new Techniques page where you can find stitch ideas.  I do plan on keeping this updated with new You Tube videos from my friend and mentor Ruth Schmuff and who knows, I may even come up with a technique myself!

So let’s start with my sweet Owl then move on to Menagerie!

Stitch:

Stitdhed sample of Owl Be Seeing Ya by Love You More..

Sample showing couched memory wire glasses and cross stitch beading for letters.

CrossStitch with Bead.I used black Memory Wire to accentuate the owls eye glasses.  I strand couched on top.  You enlarge the start of the eye glass and secure the memory wire in back, then I used one strand of black Silk to couch the memory wire in place. The beads are size 14/15 navy blue for “Owl” and I will also bead the remainder of the letterering.  I like to Cross Stitch bead lettering since it is just one row and it lays nicely.  Once this is done, our little owl is officially complete!  Yay!  It will finally be finished this year.

Menagerie Stitch A Long:

What a fun canvas Kimberly designed for the December Instagram Stitch A Long.  It is not too large at roughly 7 x 9 inches for the painted design.  So definitely a “Sheena” size canvas, not too big for me to stitch.😄

There are 12 lessons in the Menagerie stitch guide and it is very detailed.  To go along with the guide Kimberly has taped videos to demonstrate stitches for each lesson.  These videos are uploaded to Instagram and Facebook.

I will also be posting the videos here on blog and on my fun new “Techniques” page.  So be sure to check out the Techniques page for the video link.

Let’s have some fun stitching together on Menagerie!  Here is the first video for you to preview.  Kimberly has wonderful explanations and if you have not tried this particular stitch, a doodle canvas is a great way to try the stitch first.

There is still plenty of time to join in the fun.  So if you have want to play along go to Bedecked & Beadazzled, https://www.facebook.com/bedeckedandbeadazzled/videos/772595057471877.  I will post progress as I stitch along!

Kitty Tales:

Finally, no post would be complete without at least one photo of the children.

As usual my “Angel”, Noe, tries so hard to be a good girl.  I actually caught her just sitting across from me watching to make sure I did not move out of her sight!

Well folks that’s all for today.  I hope you enjoy the new look of blog and more posts will be following.  I do have newer stitches in the works for you.

Hope everyone is enjoying the start of the holiday season if you celebrate.  I started by baking my “Boozy Christmas Loaves”.  In traditional Scottish tradition the 2 pounds of dried fruit was soaked in multiple different alcohol blends, primarily Brandy and Whiskey of course!  Will show them off once decorated.  Right now they are being soaked in a little brandy and whiskey weekly!  Yum!

Take some time to stitch a little when you can.
