Aloha All,
This weeks post is a little late because I wanted to get “BOO” finished! I decided to stitch this &More canvas in an attempt to get a Halloween project done in time for Halloween, what a concept! It was perfect for me when I was not feeling great since it came with a Stitch Guide by Amy Bunger, wonderful for those days when you don’t want to pick your own stitches.
The only change I made was the addition of a Jack O’Lantern button. The guide called for a woven spider, but I really don’t like spiders and squish any I find in the house. Since there is a Jack O’Lantern darning pattern I thought this was perfect addition
Today’s stitch is a Florentine Diamond. I am calling the pattern that, but you may call it whatever you wish.
This pattern will be used on a dress. Upcoming blog posts will reveal the canvas, see if you can guess which one it is! I am deciding which thread colors to use in the diamond at the bottom of the sample. Looking at the second to last row from the bottom, I used Kreinik then Splendor, I then added Swarovski buttons in 2 colors & Swarovski crystals in 2 colors. The top band is stitched using Neon Rays+ then Splendor for the following band.
Enjoy the diagram and let me know what you think of the different thread colors and crystals?
This week on Facebook I am posting 7 canvases that I have finished over the years. Kimberly Smith nominated me to this in an ongoing challenge on Facebook. Kimberly is a needlepoint designer and her blog is http://akimberlydesign.blogspot.com, her current post is of a lovely peacock with a really neat background pattern, you should check it out.
Finally I have a felted owl magnet to show from Needle Little More, an online store with a variety of fun magnets for all of us who just can’t resist these tools of the trade I was lucky enough to have been given this great magnet from a good friend for my birthday this week. The magnet is wonderful, I have been sticking my threaded needle into it and the needle never comes out, the only issue I was my lovely Stimpy batting at the magnet and grabbing it off my canvas. I simply added an extra strong magnet to the back and it rectified this little issue Stimpy is a little monkey who plays with knitted toys, this was just an irresistible temptation!
My stitching buddy Stimpy has to say hello, don’t you think she is photogenic
Have a great weekend and take a little time to put in a stitch or two!
