Aloha All,

You may be wondering about today’s title, “Dragons & Dolphins”, well, I have to show you Kimberly Smith’s latest design, “ My Dragon, My Castle “, then you will understand!

My Castle, My Dragon!

Don’t you love Kimberly’s artwork?

Last year I designed the stitch “ Leaping Dolphins “, Kimberly saw it and thought it would be a perfect sky for her design “My Dragon, My Castle”. I was thrilled when she asked to use the stitch for her Guide! See the stitch below.

Leaping Dolphins

Leaping Dolphins sky!

When you look at the right side of the photo you will see the clouds are a rendition of my Leaping Dolphins 🙂 Don’t you love that sky and dragon! To see more photographs of this and Kimberly’s other designs check out her blog here, a Kimberly design .

Another little secret, I had the privilege of editing Kimberly’s Stitch Guide!

My Dragon, My Castle is a very well written stitch guide with beautiful stitch diagrams and fabulous close up photographs of the stitched canvas. If you would like to read an unbiased review of the guide, Jane Wood of “ The Chilly Hollow Needlepoint Adventure ” has written one for the Stitch Guide section of her blog, click here http://chstitchguides.blogspot.com/2016/05/kimberly-stitch-guides-review.html .

If you want to take a class, Kimberly will be teaching “My Dragon, My Castle” at “ The Black Sheep ” in Orlando on June 25 & 26 ! What a wonderful class this will be, so if you live in the area give the shop a call at (407) 894-0444. Kimberly will be teaching how to stitch Jessica’s, Sprats Heads, needle weaving, Rhode’s, sequin attachment, and many more techniques! Wish I lived closer so that I could take this class!

Finally today’s stitch is the Quilted Mosaic. I had been looking at another Hawaiian quilt pattern book, trying to figure out how to replicate one, and this is what I came up with. Not really the same pattern but a fun quilted look 🙂

Quilted Mosaic

Stitched sample of Quilted Mosaic.

In the sample I used 2 ply of ThreadWorx for the Mosaic stitches, 1 strand of Kreinik Fine (#8) Braid on the top, and 2 ply of splendor on the bottom for the Tied Oblong Crosses. It is a very pretty stitch and I could see this being used for clothing, wallpaper, or even trees! Have fun with the stitch 🙂

No cat stories, just a photo of Beardie under her feeding station.

Beardie staying cool under her feeding station.

Have a fabulous weekend and take a little time to stitch!

Sheena

Aloha All, I love stitching in all forms, currently I work mostly on painted canvas and embellish it will different stitches and beads.

I also love animals and currently have 4 cats, 3 that live in the house, and my 1 girl who refuses to live inside but pops inside to eat :)

When I am not stitching I may be knitting or exploring with my camera in hand.

If you ever want a stitch diagramed send me a comment and I will help if I can.

Have a great day and stitch when you can! Read More…
